If you are flying with extra baggage, make sure you talk to the airlines and inform them about the same, so that there is no problem at the airport.
Call Writer Relocations and confirm all the details of your moving day. Even if you forget this bit, our executives will get in touch with you a day before the move to confirm the pick-up time.
Make sure that you label all the packed boxes appropriately. We also provide packing services.
When our trained staff pack your items, please inform them if you need certain articles packed together.
Our Move Advisor will be present at your home or office, but we still request you to be around to give them special instructions, if any. Fill in all the paperwork required for the move and for the travel. Make sure you have copies of the contract with you when you travel. Keep all documents handy.
Once everything is loaded and ready to move, take a last look around. Bid goodbye to your old home and start on your new journey in life.
If you have pets, please make the necessary travel arrangements for them. Also, take them to the veterinarian and get the required vaccines and health certificates.
These might be important from a travel point of view and will even be required while entering another country. During this week, you must also make sure that you return what you had borrowed. Take back what you had lent out.
Pick up the rugs and the silverware and make sure they are packed properly. Also, ensure that all items that need to be fixed are repaired.
Double check all the arrangements, the packing, the weights, the leftover items, everything.
Prepare your appliances for the move. Schedule appointments with the technicians for the same. Ensure that your landline connection, internet services, and other such utilities are disconnected on the day you leave the city. Ensure that all the dues for the utility services and other monthly bills are cleared before you leave.
Whatever your means of travel are, there are some preparations you would need to make.
If you are going to drive to your new home or hotel or office, make sure that your car is in the perfect condition. Ask a mechanic to take a look at the fluid levels in your car and the tyres. If you plan to stay in a hotel for a few days until your home is move-in ready, make the bookings now. If you have to fly or take the train to get to your destination, make the relevant bookings. If you have already made the bookings, make sure that you organize all the documents that you would need during the travel. Keep these in a safe place, away from all the other move things, so that you don’t accidentally pack these as well.
Along with the documents, also sort out the stuff that you would need during your travel or in the first few days in your new home.
This could include things like computers, chargers, travel pillow, your travel clothes, and weather-appropriate clothes for your destination, etc. Start packing the rest of the stuff up. In case you are flying to your destination, make sure that all the luggage is within the weight limit allowed by your airline.
Start cleaning the house. If you have any rugs that need to be dry-cleaned or any silverware that needs polishing, this is the time to do it.
It is quite probable that because of all the effort of week 5, you might find more stuff that you want to take with you. There is no need to worry. All you have to do is call us and we will take care of it.
We will make the required arrangements, for the added items, like extra packing material and will ensure that there is place on the vehicle for these as well.
It is important you do not do this less than 4 weeks before the move. There could be weight restrictions in case you add more items to the shipment. In this case, we will have to arrange a bigger vehicle for transporting your household and office items.
We will also add these extra items to the estimate, revise the contract and send it to you for your signature. After all the additions and subtractions are done, the new contract will be treated as our point of reference.
This is the time for you to do something about the stuff that you are going to leave behind when you relocate. You might want to give it away, toss it out, or sell the things that you do not wish to take with you.
From this week onwards, buy groceries only on a weekly basis. Every week, buy only stuff that you need for the next week. Consider the food you already have at home, before you buy.
This is also the time to discard the items that are not allowed in the shipment. Make a list.
Add to this list flammable items like gas canisters, aerosol cans, firearms and other destructive materials like wood, brick, and cement. Perishable items like food, grocery, and plants, cannot be transported along with other household or office items.
This is a week of goodbyes. Keep all your work and stress aside. Spend time with your loved ones, especially the people who have been a part of your journey till now.
Call everyone. Let them know of your plans. Plan a farewell party where you can meet all of them together and celebrate the time you have spent with them.
If you have children, let them spend time with all the important people in their life. If they are leaving grandparents behind, let them spend some days with them, while you spend some time with your friends.
This is also the time to start preparing your children for the transition. Tell them about the city where you are going. Show them things on the internet. Show them pictures of the new home. If you are shifting to another country, tell them about the culture and the schooling system in that country.
Once we have all your requirements and expectations, it is time to rationalize it and draft an estimate.
When we send over the estimate to you, be sure to read it thoroughly. Understand what the terms and conditions mean. If you have any doubts, or do not understand any particular clause, feel free to contact us.
If you feel that we have missed something, let us know and we will add the same immediately. When you are satisfied that the contract is fine, please sign it, so that we can get to work right away.
Make the required payment and we will lock your booking date. We will assign a dedicated Move Advisor whom you can call for all your queries. This Move Consultant will work with you right up to the time you are settled at your new destination.
8 weeks before the move, it might seem like you have a lot of time, but you need to start the relocation process. Home, or office, make a list of all the items that you want to take with you. Make a note of the dates of the move. Have this ready, before the next step.
Call Writer Relocations and fix an appointment for a house visit. Our phone representative will make a detailed note about your requirements and arm the executive who will visit your home with this.
During the house visit, the executive will make a note of all the household items, or office machinery, that you wish to shift. Our relocation experts will also take you through our services and will guide you through the next steps.
Talk to the executive from Writer Relocations and tell him/her in detail the services you need. Feel free to discuss any anxieties you have about moving. Our executives shift homes and offices every single day of their life and will answer all your questions.
